I wish I could say that all my Christmas memories have been wonderful, but I can offer that almost all of them have been important to me.

I am a very late starter when it comes to getting fully invested in the holiday spirit. Perhaps it is my over-reaction to the commercialism inherent in the season, or maybe it happens that, by being a bit of a purist about symbols, I miss out on some of the standard traditions, because I have made it my tradition to wait till the spirit hits me in full.

Christmas has been stolen from us, but not by the hand of the Grinch. The gods of money and shadow seek to turn the sacred into the profane, which shows that, deep down, they fear no judgment from above, because they believe in no God anyway.
